| Importance of Summer Internship |
The Summer Internship is an important component of the M.M.S. Programme of the University of Mumbai. Internship helps the students to bridge the gap between the academic institution and corporate world. Landing at the right organization for doing Summer Internship is of huge importance for the M.B.A. Students. At the same time it is very important for the student to choose appropriate research topic, because it adds a lot of weightage to the resume of the students. During this Internship, we encourage the students to do quality research work and utilize their potential to the fullest. Under Summer Internship, students undertake a 2 months internship at reputed organization during the intervening period between end of Semester II and commencement of Semester III. The program is almost equivalent to one subject and carries a weightage of 100 marks. The internship which is an experience of real work environment requires the students to undergo the rigorous training both in form and substance. It exposes them to technical skills and helps them to acquire corporate etiquettes. Summer Internship is the most appropriate medium, for introducing students to real-life situation, which cannot be simulated in the classroom. Therefore, internship assignments must necessarily be those of direct interest to the host organization. Students are encouraged to take up time bound, multi-disciplinary assignments which involves team work. Student learns analytical skills, and at the same time they also learn to make decision in the face of insufficient data, and under uncertain situations. It also provides an opportunity for learning interpersonal skills and how to work in team. |
